Posted on Tue, 17 Jan 2017
Question: My child is 10 months old and I believe currently has roseola. She had a fever of about 102 for a few days and suddenly developed a rash. No more fever but her body feels very cold despite proper clothing and environment and her rectal temp has been between 97-98°F. What can I do for her and is this a serious issue?

Brief Answer:
Should settle down

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Based on your description it looks like a viral exanthematous rash.
There are many viruses which cause this.
If there is no fever , and she is alert and active and drinking well with good urine output, there is no need to worry.
But if any of the abovementioned symptoms start then you need to consult your childs paediatrician.
Ensure you give plenty of liquids mainly to keep your child hydrated.
Wishing your child speedy recovery.
Regards.
