Brief Answer:
Acid Reflux GERD needs management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

i read your question and i understand your concern. Greasy sensations in throat with constant need for clearing it and non productive cough and post nasal drippings are all very classic and commonest manifestations of acid reflux.

Omeprazole and rolaids or any other ant aicds in this are not sufficient alone. It needs a complete diet and lifestyle modifications to get a full blown response.

Lifestyle modifications used in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease include the following:

Losing weight (if overweight)
Avoiding alcohol, chocolate, citrus juice, and tomato-based products
Avoiding peppermint, coffee, and possibly the onion family
Eating small, frequent meals rather than large meals
Waiting 3 hours after a meal to lie down
Refraining from ingesting food (except liquids) within 3 hours of bedtime
Elevating the head of the bed 8 inches
Avoiding bending or stooping positions

Apart from it, right now you can use aspirin gargles and garlic water mouth rinses for the throat congestion.

if the above mentioned modifications plus medications did not suffice then last resort will be surgical correction of this acid reflux but i am sure you can't be that unlucky as only 2 % people are out of luck. Lets hope you are amongst 98 %.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Thank you!!
And unfortunately I am one of the unlucky 2%. I had the nissin procedure about 5 yrs ago because of a weak Lower esophageal nerve. I think this episode was cause by a huge rise on my anxiety level at work. Thanks again!!

Brief Answer:
fundoplication plus anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

Fundoplication needs to be the last resort. Some time failure of that surgery or repeated fundoplication using different approach is advised.

And no doubt anxiety has played it's role. I believe a good diet and lifestyle management with antacids help relieve the symptoms.

You really need a fundoplication again with more aggressive pharmacological approach.

Consult your gastroenterologist and let them devise a plan for you.

I hope it helps.
