Question : I am a 52 year old female. For the past couple months, I have had a gurgling stomach, and loose bowel movements. I have a need to go several times per day. There is no cramping or pain involved and it does not seem to be brought on by food.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You seem to have irritable bowel syndrome although clinical correlation is needed to be able to comment definitively. You need to take ORS and fluids to make up for the lost water and salts. If needed you can discuss with doctor for a course of rifaximin, a gut specific antibiotic. It remains to be evaluated whether agents like mebeverine or loperamide would be considered necessary.
