Question: I am 78 Yrs Old and Have high blood pressure, I take Losatan 25 Mg twice a Day /One in Morning and one at night.....Throught out the day my blood pressure drops considerably I get Bad Headaches and Dizzy spells .What could be causing this?

Hello,

if losartan makes your blood pressure drop to very low levels (less than 100mmHg - systolic) then it's normal to feel dizzy. Unless you have serious cardiovascular disorders like aneurysms or serious heart failure then there is no reason to keep your systolic blood pressure to levels lower than 120mmHg. Actually a blood pressure as high as 135-140mmHg is considered a better target level when compared to lower blood pressures (like 110-120mmHg).

I believe that you should talk with your doctor about reducing the dosage (or even stopping the medicine) if your blood pressure are consistently lower than the target levels I've mentioned above.
