Posted on Fri, 11 Jul 2014
Question: Hi..I'm 19 years old and I've probably only had two headaches in my entire life. This afternoon I worked out, and then sat down and all of a sudden i started getting excruciating cringe worthy stabbing pain in my left temple...I kept rubbing it and for a second it would go away and then come back. Also, Ive recently been having pains above my left eye. Should I be worried ?

Brief Answer:
Tension headache

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I went through your query and understood your concerns.

Headaches are extremely common - most people have a headache at some time in their life. Your symptoms are in favour of tension headache. You can pop a pain killer and try to relax. If the pain doesn't get relieved, you can visit a doctor for more specific treatment.

Since tension headaches are caused by factors such as neck strain, stress, and anxiety, treatment involves eliminating the stressful situation, if possible.
Pain reliever such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen do help to reduce pain.
Try to relax, rest, correct poor posture, and exercise can all help to relieve and prevent headache pain.

Hope I answered your query. Feel free to ask further related query.

Regards

Hi thanks so much for answering! Also, Ive recently been having pains above my left eyebrow like throbbing pains at least 5 days a week twice a day. Should I be worried ? Is it likely to be a brain tumor or brain aneurism ?

Brief Answer:
Very unlikely of having tumor or aneurysm

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for follow up query.

Brain tumor and aneurysm are very rare conditions, with history of shorter duration, both of them very very unlikely.
Pain over left eye is also a form of tension headache. Above mentioned treatment in my previous answer should reduce your symptoms.
