What Causes Hearing Of Heart Pulsations In Ear?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: I hear my heart beat in my right ear. I have sinus problems, allergies and high blood pressure. Now in the morning I blow my nose (not hard) just to clear fluid and there is blood from the right side. I had a bad injury in XXXXXXX that pulled mussels in left shoulder and caused disks in neck to pinch nerves. this all started three weeks after the injury. I am getting very scared. I do not have insurance and am not sure the med clinic I go to can help.

Brief Answer:
Related to upper respiratory tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query.
I understand your concern.
There is nothing to be scared, this may not be a big problem.
You hear the pulsations ( like your heart beat) in the ear when the Eustachian tube ( the tube connecting the back of your nose to the middle ear) is blocked. This occurs when there is an infection in your upper respiratory tract - the nasopharynx and/or the maxillary sinus.
If you can afford it, you should see an ENT specialist. If not, you require to take a nasal decongestant as drops and tablets and take steam inhalations to clear the nasal passages. If the nasal discharge is yellow or you have fever and facial pain or headache, you would require an antibiotic.
Your current symptoms are not related to your injury in XXXXXXX unless you had injury to your face also.
Take care
