Question : Hi,

I noticed about 3 weeks ago, my testing heart rate was sitting at 103bpm, it's been consistently at 100-117 bpm ever since. My also feel my heart fluttering once in a while but that's been going on for a couple years. I'm 21, weigh 102, and have trouble gaining weight (not sure if it relates)
Do I need to see a doctor urgently?

Brief Answer:
Please, grt your thyroid gland checked!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this increased heart rate and the difficulties gaining weight. These put together with all the information you have provided is suggestive pf a possible thyroid disease called hyperthyroidism. here, the hormones cause you to be very active, have a rapid heart rate, sweat often than others, feeling hot even when others think all is okay, loose stools, irritable, palpitations, rapid heart beat and increased blood pressure, etc. Being too active make it difficult for you to be able to gain weight. This may also cause irregular menses.

My advise is to get your thyroid gland examined and the hormones checked. This would provide a good starting point and further investigations would be followed accordingly.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
