What Causes Intermittent Brown Vaginal Discharge While On Femilon Pills?

Question: Hi,
I am 27 years old and married for 5 years. I had a kid 2 years back. 6-7 months post delivery we started to have sexual intercourse again. And since then I have been taking Femilon Pills. For the last 4-5 months I feel my sexual desire has decreased. Also I feel my vaginal entrance has squeezed a little making it difficult for penetration. Most of the time the Vagina feels dry as well. There is not enough lubrication. Another thing I notice is is 14-15 days after my period there is a little brown discharge that happens for a day and stops after that. This has been happening for the last 3-4 months. Whenever we try for intercourse(may be once in a month) it feels a little difficult and without adequate lubrication. I also feel its bit painful and the vaginal opening is small. So we stop without penetrating fully. May be just a little into the vagina and the immediate next day I see the brown discharge. That is without having full intercourse and we never push it any further.
My lifestyle is also a bit sedate and I have put on at least 6-7 kilos extra in my the last 5-6 months.
1.Is there anything to be concerned about the brown discharge.. why do I see it consistently for the last 4-5 months.. and it stops after a day?
2. What can I do be more sexually active and increase the desire?
3. Is this a case of side affect of the pills?
4. Is it because of my sedentary lifestyle?
Please advise how should I go about it.

Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
Likely due to the pills

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
1. Intermittent brown discharge can be due to the side effect of the pills, or due to local lesions in the cervix and vagina like polyp.
A proper internal examination by an OBGYN specialist, a pap smear and ultrasound will confirm the diagnosis.
2 and 3. Oral contraceptive pills can lead decrease in sexual desire due to the effect of the hormones it contains. The pills also lead to weight gain.
I will suggest you to stop the pills and switch to others contraceptive like IUD, condom etc.
4. Sedentary lifestyle leads to weight gain, and decreased sexual desire.
Be active, have outdoor activities, play outdoor games like badminton, tennis, aerobics, yoga etc.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Brief Answer:
Happy to help

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I am happy to have helped you.
PCOD do not have the symptoms you are having.
Vaginal narrowing is the narrowing of the passage of vagina leading to painful intercourse.
It can be due to fibrosis, infection, vaginal injury or hormonal imbalance.
Exact diagnosis needs to be made and treatment should be done accordingly.
