Brief Answer:
Several conditions may cause it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM .

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

There are several conditions that may be related to intermittent pain behind the ear that range from primary headaches such ice-pick headache to neck related conditions ( arthritis and associated neuralgia ) and other condition such glossopharyngeal neuralgia etc.

It is necessary to provide more information about your symptoms such time of onset, duration, any precipitating factors (yawning eg.), any other health problems and drug use, does the pain respond to medication or not, in order to narrow most possible causes.

Awaiting for more information.....
