Question : Lately I have been having left foot involuntary jerking. It starts out with a pricking sensation followed by the jerking. The whole episode last only a second. I do not have a history of seziures. Could this be stress related?

                                    Brief Answer:
We need to exclude seizures.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms.
Based on the description, we need to exclude a history of focal motor seizures. I agree with you that stress can bring on these involuntary jerky movements.
I hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

                                    Brief Answer:
First possibility is seizure.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.
As I mentioned earlier, the first possibility based on your symptoms would be seizures (focal motor type).
If seizure is ruled out by appropriate investigations (clinical examination, brain scan and EEG), then, stress should be considered.

                                    Brief Answer:
50% people have only single seizure
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.
50% of people have only a single seizure, and remain seizure free throughout their life. I hope you also belong to this category (if you are diagnosed to have seizure).
The other 50% people go on to have more than one seizure; they are labeled as having epilepsy.
