Posted on Fri, 13 Feb 2015
Question: I am getting mild irritation at the tip of penis after urination for about 20 minutes and it will disappear. I have also checked for urinary infection. Albumin is nil and EP cells are well within limits. I am a diabetic patient. What may be the problem and what is the medicine.

Brief Answer:
Possible yeast infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,

I understand your query and concern.

The penile itch in your case could possibly result from fungal infections like yeast which is commoner in Diabetic individuals.

There is possibility of nil albumin and normal EP cells in presence of yeast infections.

These infections can be treated adequately with antifungal drugs like tab fluconazole 150 mg one tab daily for 4 days.,followed by one tab 150 mg weekly once for 4 weeks. I recommend you see your local doctor who can start antifungal drugs after confirmation of infection.

Please note this drug has to be taken under strict medical supervision .

Thank you.
