What Causes Itchy Burning Bumps Near Jawline And Aged Skin After Pregnancy?

Question: Hallo. I am 37, & have a 9 month old baby. Still nursing. A week ago I notice serious aging on my face kicking in after the pregnancy glow started wearing off. I am massaging my face every night with a cream cleanser to improve skin elasticity. Now I have these bumps on my jawline. A few of them became very inflamed, they itch and burn a bit. Most of them have no colour and some are becoming red now. I do have a history of colon issues (colostomy, constipation. . ). How long do you think they will stay? I really wanted to continue the massaging as I am avoiding botox. Will blue LED (loght) therapy help?. Thank you very much. XXXX

Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern.

I want to advise you that massaging your face with various cleansers and creams cant reverse the changes that have occurred post pregnancy , nor can they be an alternative to botox. fluid retention plays a large role in appearance during the last few months of pregnancy. Be gentle with respect to your skin, and clean your face using a mild cleanser. Dont scrub your spots. use a soft cloth or your fingers to wash your face, followed by a water-based moisturiser, if your skin is dry.

Until your child s first birthday, no cosmetic intervention is generally recommended as most of the changes should be allowed adequate time for reversal. I would advise against Blue LED therapy, its a last resort therapy for acne. The only safe alternatives are Moisturizers, sun blocks and Face wash at this time.

You may upload a picture of the lesions on your face to have a better idea.

wishing you best of health

thanks

Thank you for your response, Doctor. I must say I have seen a tremendous improvement in skin elasticity in the 5 days I have done the massaging. I just wanted to understand a bit more as to 1.) why the bumps are appearing when I have no history of acne, 2.) what to do about them and 3.) how long you might anticipate for them to stay? 4.) Would you please elaborate on why you are apposed to blue LED. 5.) Alternatively, what anti-aging remedies/therapies would you recommend.

Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern.

The bumps you are referring to could be a mild eruption of acne , one doesn't need to have a history of acne to have it now. The nature of the bumps can only truly be appreciated after examining them to see for pustules, boils or comidones etc

Unless a picture of the bumps is seen, recommending treatment or predicting their duration wont be of much use.

Blue LED should only be indicated after a diagnosis is reached, I am advising against it as post pregnancy changes in the skin can vary and don't require such interventions, neither are they recommended.

I explained the remedies previously,

Facewash ( Femme care is a good option)
SP 50 sunblock routine before going out at day time
You can also use zinc supplementation like surbex Z

You may discuss these points with your doctor/dermatologist.

Brief Answer:
Acne.

Detailed Answer:
hi XXXX,

Hope you are fine,

Yes, I have received the pictures you sent.

From the lesions that I saw, they are not yet fully manifested lesions of acne vulgaris.

I would like to add Arynoin plus cream ( containing isotretinoin plus erythromycin). I would also advise you not to massage them till you are on treatment as that may irritate the lesions further.

Solaris Ultra 50 Plus ( sunblock) , femmecare ( facewash) and zinc supplementation ( Surbex Z) should continue.

You may discuss these options with you doctor and come to a final conclusion thereafter.

Let me know if you have any other query.

Thanks
