Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
This sounds like a case of seborrheic dermatitis - leads to irritation and formation of bumps or scabs on the scalp.

Generally we try a shampoo that has an antifungal component such as Nizoral which can be used a couple of times per week and this can sometimes relieve symptoms very well.

You might change the normal shampoo you use on a daily basis to something like head and shoulders or an anti-dandruff type shampoo.
