Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I would like to have some more information on your concern:

- Is the pain on your jaw related to chewing or eating?
- Is the pain located near temporo-mandibulary junction or just diffuse on the entire jaw?
- Is the pain shooting like or just a dull persistent ache?
- Do you have fever?
- Did Advil relieve your pain?

Your symptoms could be related to a temporo-mandibulary junction disorder (possible inflammation) or a tooth infection. These disorder, usually cause dull persistent pain, aggravated by chewing.

From the other hand a trigeminal neuralgia could be the cause of shooting pain in the jaw.

I recommend consulting with your dentist for a careful physical exam.

You should discuss with him on the above issues.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
