What Causes Left-sided Abdominal Pain And Numbness While Having Peptic Ulcers?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Dec 2016
Question: I have a history of peptic ulcers, generally improved with medications. Often no symptoms at all. Recently, I have had actual stomach pain and numbness on the left side of my stomach. Empty stomach or over full stomach seems to irritate.

Brief Answer:
Do fibrogastroscopy if you haven't done recently

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
l read it carefully and I understand your concern.

From what I am understanding from your explanation its that you are actually taking or tried some medications for the peptic ulcer. You need to take them for a long time (12 weeks) in order to treat the ulcer completely. Either Nexium 40mg, or Omeprazole 20mg, or Lansoprazole 15 mg, once/day before food (generally in the morning.

Also being careful with the diet it's very important. Eat often (every 2-3 hours) and not very much, but small amounts.

If you haven't done a fibrogastroscopy for more then one year, then consider doing one so you can see at what stage its the ulcer.

Hope this is helpful.
