Question: I recently took Diflucan for a yeast infection. The burning sensation is still there some and worse when sitting. 3 days later my period began with brown blood and then very light bleeding, I have never had an irregular period. is this a common side effect?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The decrease in bleeding is not due to diflucan but it can happen due to bacterial vaginosis. The persistent infection can cause an inflammation causing the burning sensation.
You need to consult your gynecologist and get a vaginal swab culture done to choose the specific antibiotic for you. Till then you can apply ice pack and take a mild pain killer for relief. The decrease in bleeding can be related to stress too. Please do not worry.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
