Brief Answer:
Upper GI at the earliest to know the exact diagnosis and other tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Male/49 - pain at and under belly button - since Friday - threw up blood and long stringy things yesterday - tried Pepto - not visited a Doctor ...
As per the short history you have provided, this may be due to gastritis and may be with an ulcer or so.
Hence I would advise you the following:
This can be foretelling a serious problem, hence an upper GI Endoscopy asap is better be done to know the exact cause of the happening.
Also needed are:
Tests of stool particularly for occult blood and/or malena (black tarry stools).
Tests of blood: CBC, liver function tests ans as required after a clinical evaluation by your Doctor.
X-ray if the abdomen in standing position.
Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen.

Start taking a PPI like Omeprazole.
Pepto to be continued, particularly on empty stomach.
Soft bland diet, small frequent feeds.
No alcohol, smoking if you are doing.

I hope, this answer helps you.
