Posted on Tue, 6 Oct 2015
Question: I took the plan B pill around 6 times this year, I know it's wrong, but now I think my hormone levels are messed up because I have been getting my period twice a month, is that normal? should i worry?

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound scan required

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about taking plan B pill.

Having six tablets in a year is not a reason for getting periods twice a month. This does not disturb hormonal balance so much.

The reason for this is likely to be some problem in the uterus like fibroid or polyp.

I suggest you to get an ultrasound scan done from your gynecologist to identify the same.

However this bleeding pattern has nothing to do with plan B pills.

Let me know if you need any more clarification.

Regards

I did an ultrasound about 8 month's ago, and it came out clean, I had no polyps, nothing at all. This just started to happen after those 6 times of Plan B pill, I really doubt I have polyps. Also, I never experienced pain during sex, or even cramps during my period.
What I have noticed is that I get very strong PMS emotionally in the past two months, I get extremely irritated and a lot of fatigue, in addition to some suffocation, which I didn't experience in the past periods.

Brief Answer:
Need to repeat ultrasound scan

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

PMS you have could possibly be due to fibroid or polyp. This is unlikely to be due to hormonal variation or plan B pill induced.

Though ultrasound scan done 8 months back was normal, it is possible that small polyp or fibroid has been missed.

Please discuss this issue with your gynecologist and repeat ultrasound scan. Saline sonosalpingogram might be required.

Let me know if you need anymore help.
