What Causes Multiple Floaters In The Field Of Vision?

Question: I have a positional defect of my field of vision. When I look to right and then reposition to center i see a transient crescent line of black and/or white that seems to arise only from my left eye, temporal aspect. no pain. i am 61 years old, male, insulin dependant diabetic for 37 years; no diabetic complications yet
