I am looking for advice because I have been feeling unwell for 8 weeks with muscle aches, hot flushes, light headed and generally unwell. I have some days that are better than others I had a full blood profile which was all good including thyroid and vitamin d. My only test that has come back high was ck levels which was 480 6 weeks ago. Just been re tested and it is 590 now I am worried. My doctor was not sure what to do next and am worried

Brief Answer:
Polycythemia vera...

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

Based on what you refer and the results of the tests, I think that you might suffer from Polycythemia vera. Polycythemia vera is a bone marrow disease that leads to an abnormal increase in the number of blood cells.
High MCHC(Mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration) level is caused by a high number of abnormal red cells that contain high amount of hemoglobin.

Lightheadedness, hot flushes and dizziness might be caused by Polycythemia vera.
While muscle aches are due to high creatine kinase level.

You should contact your hematologist to discuss about the diagnosis and the treatment of this disease.

Ask me for anything unclear.

Regards.
Dr.Behar.
