What Causes Nasal Obstruction?
Question: i am getting continuous nose block for almost two years,so i am using otrivin daily around 5 to 6 times.
what could be a problem to my nose? is it safe to use otrivin continuously?

Hi, Thanks for the query.
There can be different reasons for nasal obstruction but continuous use of otrivin is a common cause and in your case seems like the probable cause.
Otrivin in long term leads to hypertrophy of nasal turbinates and becomes habit forming.
Please stop using it and start fluticasone nasal spray twice daily along with saline nasal drops at bed time.
In few weeks the nose will start remaining open.
If not, see an ENT.

Thanks for the reply!.As per one of the ENT specialist I have consulted earlier,I have used Duonase spray twice daily six months back,I have used it for a month or so and then I stopped it,and continued to use otrivin,since duonase was not given instant relief.Is Duonase spray a fluticasone nasal spray?. Can fluticasone nasal spray gives permananent cure if this condition was caused due to the overuse of otrivin?

Duonase nasal spray is fluticasone with azilastine.
Use fluticasone spray for few months and for relief instantly use saline nasal spray as frequently as required for few months.
You have to do like this for getting long term relief.
