Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The ringing in the ears would be called tinnitus. This is the presence of abnormal sounds in the ear. It can present as ringing, buzzing, roaring, screeching etc

There are different possible causes and you may need to see an ENT (ear , nose and throat) specialist to find the cause for you so that appropriate treatment can be started.

The possible causes would depend on associated symptoms, medications and other illnesses.
EG the presence of dizziness/vertigo may point in one direction
There are some medications that may cause tinnitus, can be associated with some types of anemia, hearing loss or infections etc

Causes include: (1) meniere's disease- this would be associated with dizziness/vertigo and hearing loss in some persons
(2) age associated hearing loss can cause tinnitus as well
(3)excess cerumen or wax in the ear
(4)trauma to the ear
(5)infection
(6)side effect of certain medications- some pain medications , some blood pressure medication
(7)more serious causes like a mass in the ear or brain but this is rare

Since the treatment varies according to the cause, it would be best to see an ENT specialist so that a full assessment can be done.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
