If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have asked you about the following extra details-
1)Since when are you having these symptoms?
2)Are the symptoms progressively worsening, static or improving in nature?
3)Are you having any other past disease or medical history?
4)Do you have a history of frequent alcohol intake?
5)Do you have history of anxiety or depression?

I shall be glad to have you in follow up with details so that I can answer this well.

Had symptoms about a week ago, no alcohol at all. Symptoms have not gotten any better. Swelling just started last night. No previous serious health problems. Feet and hands are cold. No bp or other health problems prior to this episode. Thank you for your help.

Some mild depression since symptoms appeared. Starting to suffer anxiety because of limitations with numbness.

Brief Answer:
Does the swelling forms a pit on being pressed?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing further details.

As the symptoms are of short duration, they appear to be of concern.
I want to ask one important question regarding your swelling that-if you press the swelling on a bony point with your finger, does it leave a depression or pit which disappears slowly? In other words-do you have a pitting edema or not?

Please test this upon you and tell me.

No it does not for a pit. If pressed skin goes right back up. Last night feet were very red and swollen. Mild swelling today.

Numbness is the same. Cannot hold bar of soap when bathing. Cannot shampoo hair or bathe without assistance. Having trouble walking. Went to ER last Friday and they said it was not my back. Every now and then feels like a blood rush in left leg. Please help me. Most of time completely numb. Sore near groin on left side, on inside of knee, and left ankle when touched. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Physical examination is mandatory.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Non-pitting swelling rules out protein deficiency, kidney disease and heart disease as a cause of swelling. Considering your clinical details, especially your short history of just 1 week causing so much morbidity, and history not suggestive of any specific disease or organ system involvement-I am of the opinion that you must undergo a physical examination, for the favor of diagnosis.

So,I suggest you to visit a physician in person.

Hope that I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up else please close the thread, rate it and write a review.
