Brief Answer:
There just isn't a choice.

Detailed Answer:
Increasing pain and swelling strongly implies infection. Blood clot hits with an initial pain swelling and discoloration but stabilizes to decreases after certainly the first 24 hrs. Plain bruising is localized and not very painful and, like a bruise. Infection in the armpit frequently is deep in and hidden. Swelling, warmth, pain are signs. Only gets worse without antibiotics and generally a very mild bit of draining. ER's and urgent care centers do this. Regular physicians and addiction specialists do not (ok, I do, but then, I'm a country doctor and board certified in Addiction, Internal, and Pharmacologic medicine).
