What Causes Pain In Testicles?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Oct 2014
Question: I have a dull ache in my groin, left testicle, left side of my penis and to some extent my left leg and buttock. I have three small lumps on my left testicle which I've had examined through ultra sound twice and been told "they're nothing to worry about". The ache has been there for about 3 months and it comes and goes. I'm STI free and engage in sexual activity with my partner a couple of times a week. I'm really not sure what is causing the ache. Can you advise?

Brief Answer:
Ilioinguinal nerve problem

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for an elucidate history.
All the parts you have explained are are supplied by a single nerve called ilioinguinal nerve; comes fro the first lumbar nerve.

Any compression, involvement of the nerve in any inflammatory process or scar along the course can cause the pain you have.
I would advise you the MRI of the thoraco-lumbar region and along the course of the nerve to find the probable region. You need to Consult a Surgeon and discuss this and insist for investigations and clinical examination.

I hope this will help you to get a proper diagnosis and a treatment according to the reason.

The three small lumps on the testicle may not be related to this problem, yet it is better that you post the actual report of ultrasonography for me to understand.

Please feel free to ask for more .

Thank you for your reply. It's interesting what you have written since I have had an MRI which indicates a slipped disk and possible osteoarthritis at L1-L2. It is likely that this is contributing to the discomfort. I've also wondered however whether I might be suffering from prostatitis?

In terms of the ultrasound, I was simply told that I had a cyst on the left side of my left testicle and two varicosels on the right side of the left testicle.

Brief Answer:
Diagnostic MRI- get treated

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback and appreciation.
You know the obvious diagnosis. This is exactly where the said nerve starts.
Consult a Neurosurgeon to see what further can be done to release the pressure caused by slipped disc and possible osteoarthritis at L1-L2.
This will solve your problem. Not related to the cyst of testicle.

I hope that you get an appropriate treatment to get relieved of the present problem under discussion.

I hope this answer helps you, you may please rate this answer.
