What Causes Painful Knees Inspite Of Having Normal Results?

Posted on Mon, 19 May 2014
Question: Both of my legs ache at various times, beginning at the knee and going down the front. I have been to an orthop. doctor, had my legs x-rayed, but no problem seems to exist. Why are both legs hurting at the same time? Is there some explanation for this? Thanks for any information. XXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Many reasons.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

Apart from osteoarthritis knee, there are many reasons which cause pain in both legs, it may be due to compression of nerves which supplies leg, osteoarthritis of knee joint, fatigue of muscles of leg, raised blood sugar, increase uric acid levels etc. These nerves originate in lumbar area so you should have xray lumbosacral spine AP and Lateral view and send me the report, also send me report of xray of both knees standing AP view. You can also upload the xrays mentioned above.

Raised serum uric acid may also cause similar pain so have serum uric acid and E.S.R, C.R.P and fasting blood sugar.

Till then try to avoid squatting, upstairs as much as you can. Take 1 tab. aceclofenac+thiocolchicoside three times a day by prescription of your doctor.

Apply hot packs for 30 min in morning and evening .

I hope it helps.
