What Causes Painful Lump In Left Knee?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Oct 2014
Question: I have a small lump the size of a ping pong ball just under my left knee and a little to the right of the shin bone. It only has pain if I press on it and is kind of smushy but mostly hard. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
left knee ostearthritis with osteophyte.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,

After going through your query I concluded that you may be suffering from osteoarthritis with medial osteophyte formation which is felt as bony swelling as it is common in your age.You are advised to get your x-ray done for confirmation and rule out other causes. I empirically give my such patients Diacerine, glucasamine and diclofenac slow release tablets and advise quadriceps exercises. You should consult an orthopedic surgeon. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.

Hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Wishing you good health.
Take care.
