Question : I have small, soft bowl movements during unination. There is a feeling of having to have a bowel movement and occasional loss of bowel control. Also frequent uncontrollable gas releases. I have been diagnosed with a parathyroid problem. Is this related? Do parathyroid problems have a tumor component that should have surgical removal? The internet is very confusing about this.

I understand your concern.Your symptoms could be either solely a gastrointestinal cause or to any other syndrome.

If you have been diagnosed with a parathyroid tumor,it is better to rule out if you have pancreatic ,pituitary and thyroid tumor.This syndrome altogether is called as Multiple endocrine neoplasia.It has different classifications according to its componenets.

A blood test including prolactin,glucose,insulin,gastrin,MRI abdomen and brain helps in screening for other tumours if there.These tumors can be surgically or medically treated according to the size.

You can always go for a stool culture to rule out any intestinal infection.
