Question : I'm having a strange cough ever since I started to take amlodipine Benazepril. Could the cough be one of the side effects of that medicine?

Benazepril belongs to the family of medications called ACE inhibitors.

One of the possible side effects of ACE inhibitors is a dry persistent cough.
Unfortunately , till a persons starts to use it, it is not possible to tell that they are predisposed to develop this reaction.

You should consider speaking to your doctor about this reaction that is occurring. There are alternative medications that can be used if your blood pressure is not optimal.

Blood pressure control is important to prevent complications so it would be best not to stop it without letting your doctor know in case, you need another type of medication
