Posted on Tue, 29 Nov 2016
Question: For about 4 weeks I've had on and off pain in my chest and ribs. It started with a pinching pain on left side, deep, near heart and breast. Then my left ribs were sore. And occasionally I get a spasm of chest pain. I saw a doc today who said my heart was prob not the issue. Could be muscular or gerd related. 50 yr old female in good health. Had a stress test 5 years ago that was all good. Now, I suddenly have pains right in center of my chest., like between breasts. It hurts with certain movement and deep breath. But today at doc my lungs were fine.

Brief Answer:
It looks like musculoskeletal pain.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Thanks for posting your query on HCM.

From your description, thge chest pain appears to be of musculoskeletal nature ie arising from bones, muscles and other soft tissue structure of the chest wall. There is nothing to suggest that it could be related to heart or lungs. Yes it could be due to GERD if you have acidity problem and reflux disease.

If it`s very troublesome you may take a pain killer along with a pan 40 tablet and apply some local pain killer ointment. You may also take some calcium supplements and vit d as weak bones can also cause this kind of pain.

Hope this answers your query.
