Question : My Sister, (35 yrs) is having numbness in her right hand which originated in the palm and the middle finger for the last 2 weeks, which tends to move upwards till the arms. Although the pain was not consistent in the first few days, its more uniform through out her hand now and the numbness is more consistent. I've attached reports of x-ray spine and other lab reports.
Please have a look and advise us on how to control this and what could have caused this.
Thanks in Advance!

Brief Answer:
Cervical spondylosis needs posture adjustment, Medicine, MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Does she have pain and tingling numbness sensation more in the palm near the thumb region or is it over entire arm ?

Any weakness of the hand or upper limb ?

According to the history provided and the reports attached, or appears that she may be having cervical spondylosis with nerve compression.

There is nerve pinching in the ban of the neck probably due to lot of reading and studying activities. Other possibility could be due to Thoracic outlet syndrome.

She also has Vitamin D deficiency which can cause same picture and also lot of weakness.

Apply hot water bag to the painful areas. Take pain killer and muscle relaxant like Tablet Etodolac with Thicolchicoside twice a day after meals for 5 days. Avoid bending the neck forward and lifting weights. Follow Ergonomics while studying or working and use Ergonomically designed chair with good back and neck support. Also take Table Pregabalin 75mg with Methylcobalamine once a day to reduce the tingling and numbness.

She needs to get treated for Diabetes if she hasn't yet.

It is best to get an MRI Cervical spine to see the level of the nerve compression such cannot be seen on Xray.
