Question: Hello doctor
My age: 43 yrs
Wt: 60 kg
No medical history as such

I had Herpes Zoster opthalmicius around two months back. Treated with oral acivir ( 800 mg four times a day for 10 days along with lotepred eye drop( twice dialy) and lubrex eye drop for further 20 days. After this I had no apparent eye complications except a small reddish appearance on the corner of the eye( along with hint of a small lesion? ) which was not reducing. My medications were changed to pyrimon eye drop ( starting with four times a day five days and gradual taper for further 15 days). The redness reduced immediately with the application of pyrimon and it was almost not visible after the course and my medications were stopped.

The redness started to slowly increase after stopping of the medication including other portion of the white area of the eye ball. I visited doctor after few days and again I am put on pyrimon and acivir eye ointment along with optive eye drop since last 10 days. Again there is improvement but redness it is not completly going from the lesion portion. There is no other symptom as of now. Visual acuity check is normal.

Need advice for the treatment and time it may took to heal.

Brief Answer:
It takes 3-4 weeks to resolve.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
Probably you had scleritis or episcleritis following Herpes zoster and it has responded to treatment with Pyrimon eye drops ( combination of antibiotic, chlormaphenicol and steroid dexamethasone), Acivir eye ointment and optive eye drops.

This usually requires treatment for 3-4 weeks with tapering of the eye drops to prevent recurrence. Since visual acuity is normal no need to be worried.

Hence the treatment is in right direction and you need to continue the same treatment and treatment is usually required for 3-4 weeks to prevent recurrence.

Hope this answers your question and the information is helpful to you.
