                                            Question : Hi dr,
My newborn is 1.5 month old. I see some reddishness and slight swelling on heeled hand where bcg was given. I am attaching a pic of the same. Please see if it's okay or do we need to visit the paed.
Thanks.

                                    Brief Answer:
It is normal. Nothing needs to be done.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Let me assure you that it is absolutely normal for some redness or swelling to develop at the site of administration of the BCG vaccine. This would also lead to scar formation later and that is normal too. Nothing needs to be done about it and it does not require medical attention.
Regards

Thanks doctor. There is no pain in it though. Also in centre of reddishness area there is a small yellow/white boil time formation. Is it normal too? Thanks.
