What Causes Right Sided Cheek Numbness?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: I feel that my cheek on the right side is thicker. I also get numbness that comes and goes in this area. The condition appears to be aggravated by caffeine, but I can't be sure. Any suggestions?

1) No one else has noticed anything

2) The swelling has been there for at least a year, but has gotten more noticeable recently.

3) No pain, but the cheek does feel warmer when symptoms are most prevalent.

4) I went to an ENT. The dentist was just for a regular cleaning. I did not tell the dentist these symptoms.

5) No noticed color change.

6) No sweating during eating.

7) Saliva seems normal, but its tough to tell.

8) The symptoms become more noticeable after caffeine. Its either numbness or just an odd sensation around the jaw.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for writing back,

First of all i would like to tell you that in my opinion you don't seem to have a very serious issue, i will give you a strategy here to follow and hopefully this will end up helping your search of an answer.

1) Ask some one else a friend or family member if there is any asymmetry in your face, don't tell them what you feel, just ask and see what they say.

2) In your age there are some changes in face some people get heavier face and one cheek being a big heavier than other is not a rare physiological finding , you can notice it in many people around you.

3) Numbness:

It can be psychological or it might actually be happening ,if this is happening then it might well be a, ear issue may be it's clocked ear or anxiety due to caffeine, for that you can test by drinking high caffeine energy drink to see how it goes, if this happens with that drink, you gotta leave caffeine consumption and rest will be fine.

In my opinion you heavier cheeks isn't an abnormal finding it is normal in a large percentage of population , as you are much anxious about it , your anxiety is manifesting as symptoms.

Still if others also tell you that there is real abnormal difference between two cheeks then get is checked by ENT specialist with thorough ear and mouth exam .Just stay calm every thing will be fine.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health
