Question : I do not have a cold but feel like there is fluid in my head and ears (mostly my right). At first I thought I had water in my ear from swimming ,,,,but it's been over a week. I have heard about wax in the ears but have never had that problem.....I hear reverb when chewing clicking my teeth together...disconcerting... Anyway, your thoughts XXXXXXX Z

Brief Answer:
Otitis (ear inflammatio) vs TMJ disorder...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Fullness in the ear causes sensation of fluid in the ear / head. This is commonly seen in otititis media secondary to eustachian tube dysfunction. Since it more predominant at night post nasal drip is a possibility.

Besides ear conditions, I will also name temperomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction as a likely possibility since you hear a sound while chewing and biting teeth.

As your symptoms are subtle and many symptoms from aforementioned three conditions overlap with each other it will be extremely difficult to arrive at a conclusion. Therefore I will insist you see a physician for closer examination.

In the meanwhile please continue antihistamine medications. Start steam inhalation for added benefits.

Hope this helps.
