Posted on Wed, 14 Dec 2016
Question: What could be cause of hair loss? I am 54 years old, female. Have been dieting for past 8 months and have lost 40 pounds. I had elevated cholesterol and decreased all saturated fats drastically to reduce cholesterol level. Thyroid level is normal. Have been under a great deal of stress from recent divorce. Am currently taking vitamin supplememt for hair, skin, and nails. Have always had really thick hair and it is much thinner now. Is there anything i can do to promote hair growth? Would appreciate any help?

Brief Answer:
Low calorie diet and stress

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Hair need nutrients like proteins and vitamins for growth. When you are on a diet deficient of calories, it is obvious that you loose hair at one point of time. Stress adds to this. Stress is very common cause for hair loss as there occur release of number of chemical mediators which can harm hair roots.

At this point, good protein supplement along with vitamin you take is necessary.

You can also apply MINTOP 10% solution to the scalp for regrowth and healthy hair.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.
