Question : I get intense uncontrollable itching in my ears, then clear fluid leaks from the skin, followed by crusting over & flaking of skin in ears that is itchy in & of itself, leading to more scratching & picking at ears. How do I treat this.

Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

After reading your clinical history it appears that you are most probably having
diffuse Otitis externa .

If I were your treating Doctor for this case , I would advice you
Keep ear dry , don’t allow water go inside while bath ,
Stop using any object or ear bud for ear itching ,
use antihistaminic levocetirizine at night for itching &
antibiotic + steroid ointment & ear drop to prevent infection-itching .

You will get relief .

I will urge you to visit an ENT surgeon and discuss about my views. He/she will write a prescription containing the above said medications which will help you.
