Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/39 - strong and uncomfortable pain in the left lower abdomen - no fever/vomiting/pain on right - want to know how to treat and whether this is appendicitis...

Appendicitis is always gives pain on the right lower abdomen. ( rarest cause can be situs inversus where the position of the organs is exactly reversed)

You can take anti-spasmodic like Dicyclomin for control of pain.
The commonest causes of pain on the left side in a female patient are:
Colitis
Stone in the left ureter
Inflammation of left Fallopian tube
Left ovarian pain

To get a proper diagnosis:
Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen.
Tests of blood, urine and stool.
Clinical evaluation and examination by a Doctor to have clinical diagnosis and to advise further tests depending upon these findings and tests if required and to start a proper curative treatment.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
