default
Posted on Tue, 24 Jun 2014
Question: I have been having severe pain in left side of abdomen as well as my back left side from mid area all the way up into shoulder/neck area. comes and goes. especially if I eat anything. so have been eating soup/yogurt/juices. and pain pills and heat help and take it away. voimiting when it got REALLY bad. i'm even starting to feel pressure on my bladder like I have to go.
this same thing happened a year ago and I treated it the same way and it did go away. not sure if it's stricture in bowel or not..... or gall badder (but that would be on left side). no insurance until july 2014.

Brief Answer:
Following advice till you get insurance...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

The severe pain you are having in left side of abdomen and back left side especially after eating might be related to:
- stomach problems (gastritis, GERD, ulcer)
- gallbladder issues
- pancreas problems
- bowel concerns (especially if you have been constipated recently)
- urinary tract infection

Further diagnostic tests are needed to determine the right problem:
- complete blood profile
- urine analysis
- liver/kidney/pancreas function tests
- upper endoscopy and pH study
- abdominal ultrasound

Depending on the tests results, specific treatment will be prescribed.

Until you get your insurance and run the tests, I advise to:
- take probiotics that you find as over the counter (OTC) to stabilize intestinal flora
- drink more water
- avoid fried/fatty/salty/sugary foods
- eat often and small portions, chew up slowly
- do not lay down immediately after eating
- avoid carbonated/energetic drinks
- take OTC antacids

If the pain is severe and unbearable, should go to ER to take immediate treatment.

Hope it helped! Let me know if I can assist you further!
