What Causes Sharp Pain In Chest After Eating Food?

default
Posted on Sat, 13 Sep 2014
Question: I have sharp stinging pains in my chest - oftentimes after I eat - other times, not. I had my gallbladder out about 2 years ago so it can't be that - but it hits the middle of my back as well and my left shoulder and arm. Could this be related to the liver at all? I am on ometprazole 2x daily for acid reflux and take blood pressure medicine.

Brief Answer:
Peptic ulcer...

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for posting!

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

Based on what you refer I can say that you suffer from Peptic ulcer. Peptic ulcer is a lesion in the lining of the stomach.
In the most common cases Gastroesophageal reflux disease is followed by Peptic ulcer.

To relieve your symptoms you should follow these guidelines:
1. Avoid spicy and acidic foods.
2. Do not drink alcoholic and carbonated drinks, coffee and milk.
3. Quit smoking cigarettes(if you do smoke).

The diagnosis of this condition is confirmed by a Fibrogastroendoscopy, a liver function test and a complete blood count.

The results of the above tests will help your gastroenterologist in determining the right treatment.

Ask me for anything unclear.

Wish you good health.
Dr. Behar.
