Question : 4yr old complaining of mouth pain. I did see a small red mark on the back of her tongue. She has been sniffling and sneezing just today. Start complaining of the mouth pain over in the night early morning. Not complaining all the time just every now and then.
It does help. Thank you

Brief Answer:
may be viral pharyngitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Sneezing is usually viral esp if associated with sore on tongue or throat.
It usually lasts for 3 to 5 days , will settle soon with out antibiotics.
I usually prescribe antihistamines like cetrizine twice daily to relieve the symptoms.
Also apply local zinc emollients like zytee ointment on the tongue sore.
If symptoms get worse with high fever get throat swab for streptococcus. If positive , will need a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin.
Ensure your child drinks lot of liquids to keep hydrated.
