What Causes Stiffness In The Fingers?

Question: All of a sudden my wifes fingers in two hands got stiffed while walking . She was not able to fold fingers. Please suggest what may have caused this and how to take care
Brief Answer:
it could be hypocalcemia. check serum calcium
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Sudden stiffness of fingers could be spasm of the muscles.
The most common cause for this is hypocalcemia which means reduction in calcium levels in blood.
Second reason is hyponatremia which means sodium deficiency.
Both of these can cause the same effect and serum evaluation of both can diagnose the reason.
So get done her serum calcium and serum sodium levels.
Oral calcium should correct the deficiency if at all it is present. Sodium also can be corrected with oral sodium chloride in form of common salt.
So I hooe this advice will be helpful to you.
If you have any questions kindly ask me back.
Thank you
