Question: Hi,
Yesterday out of no where i got a sudden lightheaded feeling, mouth when numb, and face got hot. It felt like i was out of my body Last only a minute or two. Took about 10 minutes to feel completely normal. Ive never had a panic attack before. Would you consider this to be that?

Brief Answer:
I recommend performing some tests to establish the cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Your symptoms may be related to anxiety, but it is necessary to consider a comprehensive differential diagnosis of other possible causes associated to symptomatology (like low blood pressure and a possible seizure, thyroid dysfunction, etc.)

Did you measure your blood pressure during the episode?

I advise to carefully monitor your blood pressure in sitting and standing up position.

I recommend performing a careful physical examination, a resting ECG and some lab tests such as:
- complete blood count
-fasting glucose
-thyroid hormone levels
-blood electrolytes
-kidney and liver function tests, etc.

An EEG is needed to exclude a possible seizure.

If all the above tests result normal, the most probable cause of this clinical scenario would be anxiety.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask any other questions whenever you need!

Best wishes,

Dr. Iliri
