Question: Yesterday my 45 year old daughter woke up feeling fine. 15 min. later she started feeling very, very cold.
Went back to bed, did not get warmer. Took hot shower and started shaking hands, legs, all over, still cold.
Called husband told come home now, 15 min. later they went to the emergency hospital. Her blood pressure was very low (74/29), oxygen level low, fever going up and down. Transferred to ICU due to medicine being given to up her pressure, antibiotics to fight infection. Blood drawn for clutures, yesterday spinal tap done looking for meningitis. My questions is she twisted her back and almost feel about a year ago. She now has two bluging discs and has been given 2 shot in her spine. Could this be where the infection is coming from? So far no luck in locating source of infection. They are talking about putting her on life support , they have told us the all her white blood cells are gone. Any ideas would be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I appreciate your concern for your daughter

Sudden onset of fever with fall in BP and low white cell counts can be caused by underlying serious disease like bleeding inside the body or severe infection
It's quite a serious condition and it warrants detailed evaluation So ask her doctor about the provisional diagnosis and update me about this if possible?
I would like further information to help you better
Relevant medical history like metabolic or hormonal disorders like diabetes or thyroid disease
Her obstetric history like number of kids or any surgery in past?
How's her mental status, is she talking properly and oriented to time place and person

If you can get any of her reports please upload to me I will definitely help you in best possible way
Please revert back to me with these answers so that I will be able to tell you more precisely

wishing her good health and speedy recovery
