Brief Answer:
Anigioneurotic edema, allergic or sting

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/50 - woke up with a patch of swelling under the eye near cheek bone - wants to know the reasons and how to get rid of it...

Please give some additional information:
Is it under a single eye or both the eyes?
Any sting mark or so?
What is the color of the skin, same as before/ redness/ blanched white?
Any irritation?

The commonest causes are:
Angioneurotic edema is a allergic form of dermatitis
Insect bite

I would advise in such a situation the following:
Since the skin here is the most sensitive, please do not fondle as it will just increase the edema.
You need to take an antihistamine and steroid orally.
Do not apply anything locally, nothing helps and can have adverse effects.
If this is a repetitive phenomenon, you need to take additional treatment under the care of your Doctor in the form of medicines for works, antihistamine for longer duration of time, oral steroids in the tapering dosages over a 7 to 21 days depending upon the severity and duration of the problems.
Multivitamins in the form of anti-oxidants does help to a certain extent.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to give feedback, photograph and ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
