Posted on Fri, 29 Jul 2016
Question: by the end of the day my feet are swollen. The last 2 nights, as soon as I laid down after falling asleep with my feet up, my legs immediately cramped severely. Got up to walk it off, lay down, repeat every 30 min to an hour all night. What's up? that is a question, I guess.

Brief Answer:
Probably symptoms of different conditions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Swollen legs and legs muscles cramps usually are not related to a specific condition, it is most likely that these are symptoms of different conditions.

Swollen legs usually indicate a venous insufficiency, but other conditions may cause swelling such kidneys and liver diseases etc.

Leg cramps usually are caused by fatigue, dehydration, low electrolytes in blood, peripheral neuropathy, use of certain drugs, ( statins etc.).

In rare cases, swelling and cramps in legs may be related to same condition such impaired blood supply of legs.

It is necessary to consult with your primary care Doctor and to get evaluated further about these conditions.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
