Question: I had a root canal in Nov. and mu gum swelled up. Now I have a sore that won't go away. First it was a pimple and I popped it. All kind of puss came out in different colors. Do I have anything to worry about? i'm afraid it might be a bacteria infection. It hurts pretty bad. I spent so much money and don't have money to go back right now. I don'have insurance. What can I do?

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thanks for sending the question.

Ideally it would be a good idea for you to visit with a local dentist to see if you might need another procedure to help remove the collection of infected fluid.

Otherwise you might benefit from a short course of antibiotics would you might be able to obtain from a local clinic or urgent care facility.

In the meantime I would recommend antiseptic mouth rinses three or four times per day. If you have significant discomfortI would recommend using ibuprofen.

If your symptoms become severe or if you developed fevers or chills you would certainly need to proceed to your local emergency room for immediate evaluation.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
