Question: I sleep on my back, and while sleeping my right foot falls forward towards the bed. Is this a sign of anything. When I stand up, my right hamstring is very tight.

Brief Answer:
right foot falling not a problem

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
When you sleep on your back it is normal for your feet to fall out one way or another as your muscles relax. If this bothers you then you can prop pillows around the foot so that it will not fall.
Tight hamstrings can be a problem causing pain and loss of flexibility. Warm compresses and stretching might help.
A good way to stretch the hamstrings without stressing your back is to lie on the floor or bed on your back and use a long strap to put under your foot and then pull the leg up with your hands pulling on the strap. Yoga may also be good for the tight hamstrings but you need to be sure the instructor knows that you do not want to stress your back with the ankylosing spondylitis.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
