Question : I am 47 years with mostly regular periods. Every now and then it seems as if my uterus is twitching or spasming. It comes and goes. Last month my period ended a bit abruptly and the spasms began as if trying rid itself of something. The spasms came on and off throughout the month and not every day. Today my period started and it is going crazy twitching. It is like when your eyelid twitches. No pain at all; almost tickles. Is this an age related thing? I have my annual in Dec. I had two polyps about 8 years ago and removed them. I had and U/S 1.5 years ago and all was well. Can this wait until my annual in December if all else is normal?
Brief Answer:
Not worrisome symptom.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The twitchings in the uterus that you are feeling can be due to decreased fluid intake. It can be related to hormonal changes also. This is not a worrisome symptom. It is likely to subside on its own in few days. You can wait till December for your annual check up if nothing else is wrong. The mild change in the bleeding pattern is also a physiological variation.
