What Causes Upper Abdominal Pain At Night Along With Vomiting Up Of Blood?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Jul 2015
Question: I've been having regular episodes (one to two per week) of upper abdomen pain that wakes me up at night, the last 2 episodes have been so severe that I've vomited with a small amount of blood. My endoscopy and all biopsies were normal, I can not get back in to the Dr until August and no other suggestions have been offered - wondering if there is any other test you can think of that I should request or any restrictions to my diet/lifestyle - I already follow a GF diet and very limited dairy/mostly low fat and my weight is normal (5'10" and 175 lbs)

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

When was the endoscopy done? Is the pain in the upper middle or right abdomen? Does the pain radiate to the back? Have you had abdominal ultrasound done? Do you have any weigh loss? Any diarrhea, constipation, bloating?

Your pain can be caused by gallstones. Especially if the pain radiates to the back and appears after fatty foods intake. Abdominal ultrasound (not CT) can be done to confirm it.

Please answer the questions above.

Regards.
